It's Been a Year...

It's been just about one year (on November 18th to be precise) since I was hit by a drunk driver as I was driving home from a farm delivery. While I didn't sustain many external injuries (thankfully), I did receive what has turned out to be a fairly nasty concussion/TBI that has yet, and may never be, fully resolved. Over the course of this year, I have learned much about both the fragility and resilience of a brain, and I have been working through the process of accepting what my brain can and cannot do as proficiently and effectively as before. I have had to pivot my plans, adjust my goals, and reframe my priorities.

It's been a year of stepping back and letting some things go. Following the accident, we stopped our farm aggregation and product delivery service. I cut the number of livestock on our farm by close to half, and we paused raising pigs for meat.

But it has also been a year of new beginnings and new opportunities. I began a great partnership with Greek Hill Farms for Kunekune production. I have had opportunities to teach webinars and courses for FACT (Food Animal Concern Trust) and the Cornell Small Farms Program. And, I've built the foundations of what I hope will be a really strong and competitive herd of Toggenburg goats.

Below are a few highlights of new things to come. I want to thank everyone who has reached out to me over this past year and checked to see how I was fairing. I am glad to be getting back into the swing of things and I hope to see some of you online or at the farm soon!

Be well,

Jenn

What's New

New Logo & Website

I am excited to share our newly redesigned website and logo! I wanted to create a logo that better reflected all of the livestock we produce, so we now have a 'logo family' to represent our sheep, goats, and pigs. I am also thrilled to launch our new website which is more mobile-friendly and easy to navigate.

Online Classes & Webinars

After teaching several successful courses and webinars for other organizations, I am excited to offer online classes for kids through the Outschool platform, and webinars for adults directly through this website. Classes for kids start later this month, and webinars for adults begin in January. I hope to see some of you there!

Piglet Raffle

We are offering the opportunity to win a registered breeding quality Kunekune piglet through our Holiday Raffle. Tickets are $10 each or 6 for $50, and we will only be selling 100 tickets. Click here to learn more.

Partnership with Greek Hill Farms

After teaching several successful courses and webinars for other organizations, I am excited to offer online classes for kids through the Outschool platform, and webinars for adults directly through this website.

What's to Come

Baby Goat Park

I'm VERY excited to be planning to open a Goat Park at our farm this spring. Farm visitors will be able to enter the park and spend time playing with baby goats and sheep! If you've never watched or experienced baby goats, this video will give you a good idea of what to look forward to. Who doesn't need this kind of joy in their lives?!

New & Returning Products

While we have suspended our farm product aggregation service, we are looking forward to bringing you new products from our farm including goat milk lotions and soaps and Icelandic wool hats and mittens. We are also hoping to return to making charcuterie products with our pork in 2023.
